Barnaby's Place at Bookworks
Our good friend Wendy Roulliard brings her Barnaby Bear character to Bookworks with a themed cafe corner filled with goodies! Offerings range from ice cream in the summer to cookies, candies, and customized gifts and toys year-round.
Mitchell's Book Corner
Established in 1968, Mitchell's Book Corner is a Main Street landmark. It's iconic building was renovated by ReMain Nantucket in 2008 and became our sister store in 2012. MBC is known for its Nantucket collection (the upstairs Nantucket Room is not to be missed) and its dedication to longtime proprietor Mimi Beman's legacy of handselling.
Nantucket Book Festival
The Nantucket Book Festival was founded in 2012 to celebrate and elevate books with a festive weekend in June, and to enhance the lives of island students by supporting writing programs and bringing renowned authors to Nantucket Schools.
Second Story Loft
When Bookworks underwent its renovation, we put a book-themed apartment up top! It's luxurious accomodations provide income for that supports the store but allowing the landlord to charge sub-market rent to the bookstore. Follow the link to VRBO to book a stay!
Nantucket Atheneum
The Nantucket Atheneum is the island's public library and--dare we say--a national treasure. Plan to spend an hour or day in the Great Hall thinking big thoughts where the likes of Frederick Douglass, Lucretia Mott, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau spoke. You can't help but be inspired.
Our Signed MINI Cooper
Here's a cool thing: in 2010, the storied book publisher Penguin Publishing had a creative idea to celebrate their 75th anniversary: they bought a MINI Cooper, painted it orange, and sent it across the country on a 20 city book tour. At every event, the author signed the dashboard of the car. Come fall, they put it up for auction to benefit the New York Public Library, and lo and behold, we won it! Since then we've added authors signatures at every occasion. Keep following the ride!
